'90s Realness for my Plus Size Life

I'm a '90s girl through and through. My teenage years were spent with Brenda and the Beverly Hills 90210 gang, Cindy Crawford and MTV House of Style, Saved by the Bell, Friends, Blossom and My So Called Life... (Sigh, Jordan Catalono was everything.)I went to the movies on Friday and Saturday nights with my junior high boyfriend or girlfriends and saw "Jurassic Park", "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Clueless", "Aladdin" and "White Men Can't Jump."I wore chunky Mary Jane shoes and platform boots, Doc Martins, crushed velvet body suits, babydoll dresses and bike shorts, shirts with peace emblems on them, scrunchies, flannel shirts tied around my waist and short plaid skirts... and shell toe Adidas.I loved my Adidas.  So when it came time to shoot a new look for the blog I knew exactly what I was going to do... bring back some '90s style realness. High fashion? Nope. But, if you stepped back in time there's a good chance you'd have seen me (or maybe even Rosie Perez) sporting an outfit that looked a lot like this.Sporting a messy half-up top knot, a bold red lip and a classic oversized silver hoop earring, I literally loved everything about this outfit. You know how you look at a picture sometimes and you say "damn, this feels like ME!" an it feels awesome? That is how I feel when I look at these pics.Thick thighs. Double chin. Visible belly line. Yeah, it's all there. But you know what else is there? One big, huge smile!

IMG_9554Get it: Basic black mini bodycon dress from Asos  available in sizes 14-24Note: this dress runs short and is snug. Make sure to order your correct size or size up for a less fitted look.

I wrapped a denim jacket around my waist. This one is from SimplyBe and is no longer available. I wish I could link it because it's the best denim jacket ever!

IMG_9548And just a couple of more because I was having so much fun!IMG_9584If you follow my blog you know how much I love a basic black bodycon-style dress. This is (yet another) of the style I own from Asos. It secretly makes me feel like a Robert Palmer girl when I put it on! (Props to you if you remember that reference...) IMG_9594Big thanks to Nichole Alex for the photos and Paloma Alcantar for the awesome hair and makeup!
